Today was New Year's Eve (Omisoka in Japanese). My sister and I did not go out. I had a gorgeous dinner at home. I had steak, crab and buckwheat. They are my favorite foods. Although, I ate too much again, I was happy to eat them. > < We watched the NHK Year-end Grand Song Festival. It was a nice night!! Considering the record of the past year, my life has changed dramatically. I went to America at last. I also got an American family and a lot of foreign friends. So I want my 2008 to be even better!!

Old friend from high school

Today I met with an old friend from high school. We went to Karaoke and Gusto. We enjoyed singing and chatting at that time.
We got to know each other so long time! In junior high school, we went to the same cram school. We also went to the same high school.
Recently, I had some things I was worrying about. She helped me by listening to my stories and giving me some advice. She sometimes encourages me and I feel better. However, she goes to a university in Oita, so we can not meet so often. I wanna see her more!!

Anyway, today it was so cold and we had snow. > <

Missing watch

Today I got my missing watch at last. When I lost it, I was shocked. It past over one month that I have lost it. The watch was expensive for me. I liked it so much, so I did not dare to buy new watch. My sister found it. When I saw it, I was really glad. (^ ^) I try not to lose it again!!

Mr. Tomei's office

Today, I went to school to see Mr. Tomei. I had some questions to him, so I met him at his office. I met his daughter, Lana chan there. She was so cute and funny. Though she is still 3 years old, she can speak both Japanese and English. I want to speak English as fluent as her. At that time, I learned about high-level English writing and pronunciation of English. Anyway, I have to improve my English skill more!!

Book Review 2-14

I have read the book “TWISTERS!”I will tell you this story.
Rob was working in his farmyard in Texas. It was a peaceful spring day but his dog, was unhappy. He hid under a tractor and would not come out. Rob wondered if barney was ill. Suddenly the sky went dark. Hailstone as big as golf balls pelted down from the sky. Thunder rolled and lightning flashed. A few moments later there was a deathly stillness. Somehow, barney had known it.
Maybe, it is that Animals have sharper senses than human have. Many can sense changes in the weather, like just before a bad storm. As Bob looked on, huge black clouds began to spin. They bubbled at the top like boiling milk. Gusts of wind blew straw around. Just then, a finger of cloud spiraled down from the sky. It was a twister. Rob stood rooted to the spot. The twister touched the ground. Mud and grass swirled up like smoke from a bonfire. That was only the start of it. The twister began to move. It skipped and bounced across the fields. It grew bigger, faster and dirtier as it picked up mud from the ground. Rob watched in horror as the twister went towards his neighbor’s farm. It picked up straw, tree and even a farm truck. It spun them around in its funnel. Rob sighed with relief when the twister moved away. He thought he was safe. But then the twister changed direction straight towards him! Suddenly the twister was hanging right over Rob’s farm. There was a noise like a rushing waterfall, and then the barn exploded as if a bomb had gone off inside it. Rob ran with Barney to the cellar in his house. His ears were hurting and he could hardly breathe. That’s because the air pressure inside a twister is very low. This makes people’s car ache and causes buildings to explode. Just as Rob reached the cellar, his front porch flew off with an ear-splitting CRASH! Then came a SMASH as the house windows blew in. Two minutes later, all was silent. Rob came up from the cellar. Furniture lay smashed on the floor. Most of the doors and windows were gone. Rob felt lucky to be alive. Friends helped Rob to clean up. They lived nearby but their house was not touched. Twisters can form when cold air meets warm air. The warm air is sucked up in a swirling column called a funnel cloud. It spins at great speed. Twisters contain the most deadly winds in the world. No one knows what a twister will do next. It can lift up a large truck and smash it to pieces, but leave small objects undamaged. One twister picked up a baby and set him down safely 90 meters away. The baby did not even wake up. There are lots of stories about twisters. A twister once blew away a man’s birth certificate. The twister carried it 80 kilometers then dropped it in a friend’s garden. One twister sucked up some roses and water form a vase. It dropped them in another room but it left the vase on the table. Another twister picked up a jar of pickles and carried the jar for miles without damaging it.
Twisters come in many different shapes and sizes. They can be thin, white and wispy. Or they can be big, thick and black. They can be red or green. If a twister travels across a muddy field, the mud turns it brown and very smelly. Twisters can grow bigger and faster as they go along. Some look as if they have a loop or knot in the middle. Some are wider at the bottom than at the top. Some are shaped like a tube and others look like a slice of pie.
Lots of people have seen a twister from the out side. But only a few have looked inside a twister and survived.
A farmer named Will Keller once looked up into a twister from his underground shelter. Just as he closed the door of his shelter, he saw lots of mini twisters inside the big twister. These mini twisters can rip through a building and slice it to shreds.
People in Tornado Alley are prepared for twisters. Most of them have an underground shelter outside their home. Some people in Texas have a fiberglass shelter buried in their back garden. People without a shelter have to hide in a cellar or small room in the middle of their house.
This story is a little short, but it is so-so interesting. I can learn what twister is. If I live in America in the future, I will care of twisters. In fact, when I was in Minnesota, I experienced storm. Then my host family and I went to the basement to shelter from it. Anyway, I do not want to meet any disasters.

Baker of donkey

Today I found Baker of donkey (Roba no pan-ya) near my house. Baker of donkey is that a baker comes and sells several loaves with his car. I rushed to buy loaves. I bought cream and orange flavors. I wanted to buy chocolate flavor, but it was already sold out.
When I was a pupil, I would often buy them on Saturday. However, the day the shopper comes to my town has changed. According to him, he comes to my hometown every Thursday. I will try to catch him again next Thursday!!

Part-time-job

This winter vacation I have planed to go to driving school, but I did not do that. That's why I found part time job hard instead of going to driving school. However, it was so difficult to find short-term job. Though I called many shoppers, I could not find my job. I was too late to find short-term job. I managed to find a temporary agency. That's why today I signed up with a temporary to be a temp. I want to get my job quickly!!

Christmas

Today was Christmas, but I did nothing especially. I just stayed at home and found my job. When I was younger, I sent letters to Santa Claus in Sweden through my private English class. I got answers from his every year. I also took part in Christmas party of the English club. However, Kumamoto does not have snow so much during this season. I am interesting in the way westerns celebrate Christmas, too. I have never eaten turkey in my life. Someday I will celebrate somewhere in western countries!!

Christmas Eve

Today I ate out with my family and relative for dinner. We went to Aladdin because my relative's birthday. We ordered the most expensive meat and lots dishes. Today was Christmas Eve, so we got special chocolate ice cream for free. We were luck. (^ ^) To my sadly, my mother could not go there because she had her part time job. Next time we will go there again, I wanna take my mother.

After we came back to home, we ate cake. We were given this cake from my father's friend. He gave us cake and also pizza, french fries and sandwich.
I was afraid that I ate too much. > < I had to exercises!!

However, I wonder why everyone celebrates Christmas eve than Christmas.

Christmas Eve Eve

Today I went to Koran-tei with my family including my grandparents. My grandfather takes us to restaurants to gather us every Christmas season. Without Christmas season, we often go to this restaurant. My grandparents like to going there very much. I also like to eating out with them. It was my 20th birthday that we went there last. Tonight I got money from them as Christmas present. My grandfather tool a lots photos of us with his digital camera, I also took some photos for my blog. My grandparents will go to China during New year. I want to travel with them together someday!!

Izakaya with my sister

Tonight I ate out with my sister. We wanted to eat yakitori, so we decided to go to a izakaya. The shop's foods were delicious, but very expensive. Therefore, we ordered few dishes. At that time, my sister suggested to me that we should change shoppes. We ate the dished quickly and then went to another izakaya. There we ate a lot. I also ordered Cassis & Orange, drink. We became full there. After that, we went to a Haagen-Dazs shop. We ate expensive ice cream. (^ ^) My sister is still worker, so she paid all to me. I wanna eat out with her again!!

Book Review 2-13

I read the book "L.A. Raid". I will review this story.
Lenny Samuel who lived in Los Angeles was a private detective. It was Monday morning in June. He was going to the First City Bank on Sunset to put his money in. Outside the bank he saw a woman with long blonde hair. He smiled at her. At that time, he saw a duck that was coming out of the bank. In fact, it was someone with a duck mask on. The duck had a brown bag in its left hand and in its right hand had a gun. He threw himself to the ground. The duck ran past him. He decided not to put his money in the bank. At that time, he heard a police car. An officer asked him questions for three hours. After that, he drove back to his office. Then he listened the radio news about it. He wanted to have a rest, but he got a call from the President of the First City Bank, Mr. Carter. Carter asked him to work for him. That’s why he had to go to his office. The headquarters of the First City Bank was in a tall office building. There was a private car park. He parked his old grey Chrysler. He went into the building and got into the elevator. He rode up to the tenth floor. A secretary took me to Carter’s office. It was a very big room. Everything was white. Carter was sitting at the desk and unhappy. He had lost ＄10000000. He said to Carter that he was expensive. However, Carter asked him to find the robber. Carter also told him about other robberies.
On Monday night, someone had railed the First City bank in Glendale Boulevard. The bank robber had dug a tunnel to the bank. He had made a hole in the floor of the bank. Then the robber had taken the money away through the tunnel. On Tuesday evening, a helicopter had flown over our bank in Main Street. The raider had come down a rope from the helicopter. He had made a hole in the roof. Then he had climbed down into the bank and robbed it. The raider had gotten hold of the rope again. Then the helicopter had lifted him out through the roof. On Wednesday morning, there was a raid at the First City Bank in Santa Monica. The robber had stopped one of the bank’s vans. The van had been full of money. The robber had not hurt the driver of the van, but he had stolen all the money. On Thursday night, the raid had been at the bank on Seventh Street. First, the robber had stolen a big excavator. Then he had driven the excavator through the glass doors of the bank. The excavator had picked up a cash machine and driven off. The police had found the excavator ten minutes later. The cash machine had been empty and the robber had gone. On Saturday morning, one of our vans had left L.A. airport. The van had been going towards the city center. The van had been carrying gold. A police car had stopped the van near Florence. But it had not been a real police car. The bank robber had been driving the car. The robber had had a gun. He had made the van driver get out. The robber had driven off in the van with the gold.
Carter promised him that he would pay ＄10000 to him. He got into the Chrysler and drove around all evening, but he did not have a plan. He thought the bank robbers were clever than him. He got up early on Tuesday morning. He decided to watch the banks in the city center, but nothing happened. It was midday. He would ask a bank manager about how a bank worked, so he went to the First City Bank near the City Hall. He waited outside the manager’s office. There were a lot of people in the bank. The bank manager’s office door was closed. The manager’s name was F. RIVERA. He could see someone in the office through the glass door. The door opened. A woman with long blonde hair came out. She was carrying a plastic shopping bag. She walked to the glass front doors of the bank and left. He remembered seeing her. The secretary opened the door and screamed. A man was sitting at the desk. His hands and legs were tied with rope. There was tape over his mouth. The safe in the corner of the office was open. Mr.　Rivera told him about the story. According to a woman whose name was Miss. Waterbird came to see him with gun. Samuel asked him some questions about it. On Wednesday afternoon, he was sitting in his car. It was parked outside the First City Bank in Florence Avenue. A guard got out of the van. He was carrying a heavy bag of money. Suddenly, the motorbike drove between the van and the bank. There were two people on the motorbike and they were both wearing duck masks. The passenger on the motorbike took the moneybag. He tried to follow them and went to the busy streets, and then a police car came and was close behind him. The policeman took him to the police station, so he told the police everything. Later he became free. Mr. Carter was angry because he could not catch them. However, he kept his job. He thought they would come to the bank on Hollywood Boulevard. He asked Mr. Carter whether he could stay the bank on Friday night or not. He was allowed to do that. At two o’clock in the morning, he heard the noise. The someone climbed down a rope into the bank. The robber put something against the safe door, and then he moved away quickly. There was smoke everywhere. The big safe door opened slowly. A minute later, the robber came out again with some bags and then he pointed his gun at the robber. He turned the light on and pulled the mask off. It was the blonde woman. It was the same woman he had been before. Suddenly, something fell on him from the hole. It was the other robber. He dropped the gun and fell to the floor. Everything went black.
When he woke up, he was arrested by a policewoman. His hands were tied with rope. She did not believe his story and took him to the police station. She asked him a lot of question, and then she locked him in a room. Mr. Carter came to see him, but he was so angry. Mr. Carter fired him from the job. At midday, the Chief of Police came to see him. He was free, but he was not allowed to work as a detective. He managed to go back to his office. To his surprised, two people in duck masks were standing in his office. It was the bank robbers. The robbers took off their off. They were twins. They had blonde long hair. One was Lyn and the other was Liz. They told him about the Mr. Carter’s secret. To tell the truth, they were working for Carter. He paid them to rob the banks. In other words, he was robbing his own bank. He told them where the money was and Samuel was. He was so rich, but they did not like him. That is why they told him about everything. They said to him that they would leave town and go to Hawaii. Then Lyn gave him a letter. The letter told the police about Carter and the bank. Samuel closed his eyes once. The moment he opened his eyes, both women kissed him quickly and then they left. He took the letter to the police. Carter was arrested. He could be a detective again. A week later he got a phone call. He put some clothes into a suitcase and got into the Chrysler. He was going on holiday. The phone call had been from Hawaii. He would leave the town!!
I think it was the most longest book review I have ever done. I was happy to be long. Speaking of this story, it was easy, but it was too long. However, it was interesting. I want to find books such as this again. Perhaps, the next time I review one book; I will make it be longer than this. It is very hard to me and takes long time, but I want to try to do it!! Enchanted Trailer

Enchanted will open in Japan soon!! This is a 2007 Disney film. When I was in America, Yumi gave me some information about this film. I was dying to see it since I had heard it. I am a big fan of Disney princess stories like Beauty and the Beast and so on. Especially, Squirrel is main animal of this film. I want to see it quickly!! Though I said so, I will not go to theater to see it. I will watch it with DVD or Video!!

Holiday in America

The first Sunday I learned how American families spend holidays. In the morning I went to a church with my host family. There I experienced American church. I thought American church was interesting. Many Americans sing well. I wanna visit there again!!


In the noon my host sister, Christina cooked cake. I helped her a little. She baked the zucchini chocolate cake. My host sisters can cook very well!!
The cake was so delicious. I wanted my family to eat it.



I should have learned how to cook it. I wanna eat it again. I will try to make it someday!!

In the evening my host father began to burn pork chops at the yard. My host mother bought two big pork chops at the cub foods, but the pork smelled. Therefore she returned them once.


When we had dinner, Sarah's boyfriend was also there. We enjoyed chatting and having dinner together. It was my ideal American dinner time!!




After the dinner I went cycling with my host father. I ate too much, so I needed to exercise. We did it for nearly one hour. I watched some squirrels during cycling. I was lucky that I could ride on a bike during my time in America!!

Last Japanese class

Today was my last Japanese class. I had a test about Japanese teacher. Unfortunately, I caught a cold since last weekend. I had to go out long time because of my coming of age ceremony yesterday. However, I had studied hard for the test since last Monday, so I did my best of it. I do not know whether I will take the subsequent lesson or not. However, thanks for this lesson, I could get new friends including foreigners. I also learned how difficult teaching Japanese is. In the future, I want to be a Japanese teacher in abroad!!

Movie Review 5

School of Rock

(Introduction)
The king of rock is a 2003 comedy film. It was 109 minutes. It was written by Mike White and directed by Richard Linklater. The main character Dewey Finn was stared by Jack Black. Mike White, who was the writer of this film, also appeared as Ned Schneebly in this film. The film has been nominated for several awards. Thank for this film, Black won an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance.
(Story)
Dewey Finn was a hard rock singer and guitarist. One day, he was fired by his band,” No Vacancy”. His performance was too hard and his action was selfish, therefore his members disliked him. Instead of him, they added a new member.
He was also blamed that he did not pay rent by his flat mate, Ned Schneebly. Ned and his girlfriend always suggested to him that he should work to get money. Ned had also been a rock musician like Dewey, but left his band and began to work as a substitute teacher.
One day, when Ned was absence, Dewey got a call from the principal of Horance Green Elementary. It was a highly prestigious preparatory school and she said that she wanted Ned to work there as a substitute teacher. Then Dewey pretended to be Ned and got job as a substitute teacher for the fifth grade class at that school. Though he became a teacher, he did not any experiences as a teacher.
Of course, he could not teach subjects like math, history and something like that. He gave the student a lots free time instead of classes, but the students were very earnest and got angry with him. When they had music class, he realized their talents of music. They could play the instrument well. That’s why he began to teach them about rock music and made new band as a special project. He chose some students for the band players or singers. Surely, they all could not play the instrument and sing. He gave his all students each role. For example, he left them to be managers and make costumes, a band’s name and so on. He thought students should make their band by themselves. Students had big interest in that project. Some practiced hard for their credits and some just enjoyed it. They began to practice rock music hard and secretly, and sometimes got out of the school. If the project was discovered by other teachers, they had to stop it. He always pretended to lesson another subjects with his students. Their homework was to listen rock music and learn something from them. Students decided to name their band “School of rock” and wear school uniform as their costume. One of student played his original song in front of Dewey. He took on his song as their main song. Their motivation became bigger day by day.
One day, he tried to make them enter the Battle of the Bands. They were late for the entry. They wanted to enter the Battle anyway, so the class president, Summer got an idea. It was that students pretended to be severe sick children. They got the battle manager’s sympathy. That’s why they could entry the Battle.
However, Ned realized that Dewey worked at the school as Ned Schneebly. He was exposed his secret to the principal and children’s parents. After that, he was thrown out of the school. Some students were disappointed at him, but some wanted to keep the rock band and enter the Battle of the Band with him.
They called him and they went to the hall for the Battle of the Band together. The principal and their parents also went there. As soon as they arrived, School of rock’s stage stared. They played “School of Rock”. Audiences including the principal and the parents were crazy about their playing. They played two songs there. Finally, they missed the win because of Dewey’s old member. Audiences were unhappy with the judge, so they kept calling “ School of rock”.
After that, Dewey and Ned kept “School of rock” at their flat. The student went there to learn rock, and kept learning rock music.
(Impression)
To tell the truth, I do not like this movie so much because this story is really simple. I can guess the story from the title. This film was similar to Sister act 2 to me. Though it is 109 minutes’ movie, but I felt it was so long movie. However, I liked Summer Hathaway starring Miranda Cosgrove the best of all characters in this film. I got to like her action. When I watch foreign movies, I watch them in Japanese version, but this time I tried to watch it in English version. I could learn many words from it. I realized that watching movies in English enables me to improve my English listening skill. Next time I watch movies, I will try to watch them in English version.

Hit-and-Run

Today my father and I witnessed a hit-and-run accident. Luckily, Nobody got hurt or killed. However, a white car got scratched. Some children also saw it. When the accident happened, there was no owner of the white car. Though some people witnessed, the criminal run away. I want to drive in the future, so I do not try to encounter any troubles.

Drinking party

Today I took part in my club's drinking party. I had Japanese lesson every Monday and Friday, so I did not participate previous parties at all. However, I like eating foods and drinking with my club members. Tonight we went to the Izakaya "Osama shokudo". I enjoyed talking and having dinner with them. I am very poor at drinking, but I drank a little at that time. I had a Cassis ＆Orange, drink. I like it, but I can't drink too much because I get drunk easily. > < If I have money and time, I want to participate that drinking party again!!

Book Review 2-12

I read the book "THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON". I will review this story.
It was the year 1666. London was an old city with lots of narrow streets. A lot of people were ill because there were rats in all the streets and the houses. One evening, a baker, Tomas and　Farriner and his daughter, Harriet, were making bread. They worked quickly because they had to that bread for the king in the morning. Mary who was the barker's maid came to help. They made bread for two hours. Then Mr.Farriner wife, Anne called down to them. She said to them that they should go to bed. Thomas checked the fire was nearly out. He went up to bed, but he did not close the oven door. An hour later the baker's shop was on fire. They realized the fire and escaped from the burning house. But Mary was afraid to jump to the house next door. Thomas tried to help Marry. Just then, someone brought a ladder. Thomas, Anne and Harriet quickly climbed down. Mary could not be helped. There was a strong wind and the fire spread quickly to more houses in Pudding Lane. Just then twenty fire fighters arrived and began to bring to put water on the fire. But the fire was out of control and soon all the houses in Pudding Lane were on fire. People in the city were hurry to find the Lord Mayor. In a different part of London, Samuel Pepys was asleep in his bed. Pepys worked for the government and at home wrote a diary every day. At three o’clock in the morning, his maid came to his room and waked him up. Pepy went to the window and looked out across London. He saw a big fire. Pepy tried to go back to bed, but she did not allow him to do that. Pepy quickly put on his clothes. He went to the Tower of London. Near the Tower, he met his good friend, Richard Moore. They climbed up the hill to the Tower. Big clouds of smoke were beginning to spread across London. Belles were ringing from every church in the city. They also ran down to the River Thames to help people. They arrived at the river. Crowds of people were running down to the riverbank. The fire was in the next street then. Families left their houses with hands full. They were carrying their things away from the fire. Everybody wanted a boat on the river. A man found the Farriner family, but the family left quickly and went down the river in the boat. Pepy and Moore walked nearer to the fire. There were clouds of smoke, and thousands of rats were in the street. They were running from the burning houses. Just then, they met twenty fire fighters outside a burning building. They were putting water on the fire but it was spreading quickly. Pepys asked the chief fire fighter whether he could stop or not. He answered he could not do. He also said that he needed to ask the Lord Mayor, but nobody knew where he was. Pepys and Moore had to speak to the King. That’s why they tried to go up the river to Whitehall Palace. They went quickly up the River Thames. It was morning but the sky was black with clouds of smoke. The find was stronger, and many streets were on fire. The houses on London Bridge were burning fast, and people were jumping into the river. They arrived at the Palace of Whitehall. A crowd of men was standing outside the door. They were all talking excitedly. One guard cried that the King wanted to see Samuel Pepys. Pepys went into the King’s room. He told the King about the fire well. The king wrote a letter and asked him to give it to Thomas Bludworth was the Lord Mayor. Pepys and Moore went outside at once and jumped into the King’s coach. They drove madly through the narrow streets. In the end, Pepys found the Lord Mayor and gave him the King’s letter. The Mayor wanted to pull down houses near the fire but nobody listened to him because people did not wanted to lose their houses. Just then some of the King’s soldiers arrived. As son as the soldiers came, the Mayor came home quickly. The soldier began to pull down houses and blow up shops. It was nine o’clock on Sunday evening. Pepys and Moore went home. For three more days the Great Fire of London burned. Frightened people and hungry rats ran madly through the streets. The fire spread to the most important houses and churches in the city. Old St. Paul’s Cathedral burned day and night. Day after day the fire fighters and soldiers worked to stop the fire. On the fourth day the wind changed direction and the fire slowly stopped. The fire fighters stood and watched for the first time in days. Many people came back to look for their houses and shops, but they found nothing. At home Pepys began to write about the fire in his diary. He knew the government had to work a lot to help the people of London. Five days later, Pepys and Moore climbed up the tower of the last church in the center of London. There was nothing in the city, but only nine people died. Fifty years later London was a very different city. There were no more old narrow streets in the city center, but beautiful wide streets instead. The most important thing was there were no more rats.
This story was short, but my book review was too long. I did not know that history of London. I have never been to London, so I want to go there in the future. I especially want to go to Big Ben because it is only place that I know in London. I also want to go to Glasgow!!

Winter vacation

This winter vacation I want to start to go to a driving school. However, my parents and sister advised me not to go there during winter vacation. That's why I won't go to the driving school. I have much time, so I will find job instead of learning in the driving school this winter. I want to kill time and get much money soon. I also should finish my school works and study for TOIEC!!

Chinese friend

Today I met one of foreign students from China. I was happy to see her, but we did not have much time to talk. I managed to get her mail address. If I have time, I want to talk with her again. Next time I meet her, I will try to greet her in Chinese!!

Christmas Mickey

My sister got him at a game arcade.

He can walk in time to jingle-bell music.

He is good to wake people up.

He is a little noisy, but he is cute and funny!!

Osaka trip

My sister went to Osaka for work yesterday and stayed overnight there. She walked around Osaka city by herself. She went to Kenji Tamura's shop, Dotonbori and so on. She was lucky that she was drawn by a famous artist for free. She seemed to enjoy Osaka trip. I have never been to Osaka, so I want to go there at least once!!

Book Review 2-11

I read the book "TITANIC". I will summarize this story.
When the White Star Line announced the completion of the "super ship"-the TITANIC-in 1912, they said that she was the greatest ship ever built: luxurious, unsinkable and unbelievably. Titanic was ready to set sail from England, teeming with more than a thousand passengers. Crowds on the dock were waving flags and handkerchiefs. Passengers were waving good-bye to friends and family. After three days at sea, the trip has seemed like a holiday for most of the passengers. But soon, the Titanic will be entering an area of the North Atlantic Ocean where icebergs float. All day the Titanic has received iceberg warning in Morse code over the wireless. The lookouts saw a dark object looming ahead. It was an iceberg and the Titanic was heading straight toward it. With no time to waste, the First Officer called for the ship's wheel to be turned as far as possible. Slowly, the ship started to veer away from the iceberg, but it was too late. There was a slight bomb and a ripping noise as the iceberg scrapes the starboard side of the Titanic. Down below, the men working in one of the boiler rooms were almost swept off their feet as water gushed into the room. Within minutes the water was waist-high. The Captain knew that the ship was going to sink and there were not enough lifeboats to get all the passengers off safely. Not far from the panic in the boiler rooms, many passengers were still fast asleep, unaware of the collision. Very soon all the passengers were ordered on deck with their life jackets on. The crew began to direct the passengers into the boats. As the lifeboats were lowered, lights were seen on the horizon-another ship was out there. The Titanic's crewmembers had a way to get its attention. They fired distress rockets that exploded like fireworks in the sky. Then they used the Morse lamp. But there was no response. The bow sank farther down slowly. The band played on, trying to keep the passengers clam. But there was fear. The last wooden lifeboat was lowered, but more than 1,500 people were still on the ship. Their only hope of escape was in the last collapsible boat about to be launched. The music stopped, but the ship's lights were still glowing in the dark. As the stern rose higher into the air, everything inside the ship slid to the front. Every object on board crashed down and piled up. Out on the deck there are still hundreds of passengers. Some were clinging desperately to the rails. Other lost their grip and fell into the sea. Those wearing life jackets were kept afloat, but the water was ice cold and they would soon freeze to death if they were not rescued. The Titanic's lighted flicker as she plunged. People in the water screamed for help but their cries soon died down. The survivors in the lifeboats had rowed away from the ship, fearing that they would be sucked down. But some sailors decided to row back to the floating wreckage of the Titanic. They wanted to see if anyone was still alive. They rowed through hundreds of frozen bodies and found just four survivors. The survivors had been at sea for several hours without food, water or warm clothing. Many were almost frozen to death. Suddenly, they saw rockets in the distance. Another ship was on its way. It was the Carpathia. Her crew had heard the Titanic's distress. She had arrived too late to save the people in the water but not too late to save the people in the lifeboats. One by one, the Titanic survivors got on the Carpathia. The Carpathia headed for New York and the journey took three days.
I got known the story from the movie Titanic. I like the film very much. Leonardo Dicaprio looked cool in the film. However, I want to travel all over the world with gorgeous ship like Titanic!!

French Restaurant

Today I went to a French restaurant with my mother for dinner. It was a present from a Kimono shop, so we could eat French for free! None was there except for us. There was our chartered restaurant.
At first, it was seafood salad. They were crab and scallop. I like both of them.
It was sweet potato soup. I liked it very much. It was so creamy!!
It was a fish dish. I do not like fish, but I could that fish and it was very tasty to me.^^
It was main and chicken dish!! I became full a little, but ate it all. I had never eaten that chicken until today.
It was dessert. When it was served, I was so full. My mother could not eat it, either. Totally I like this restaurant.

Pizza party

Today Pizza party was held at my club room. One of my club member's birthday, so some of people ordered 4 delivery pizzas. They were delivered within 30 minutes at school. We ate two slices of the pizzas. We finished eating quickly. After that, we also ate birthday cakes. When I ate Japanese pizza, I missed American pizza. American pizza was much bigger and cheaper than Japanese. I wanna meet American pizza again!!

Japanese Lounge 2

Today I became a Japanese teacher to two Chinese women again. Then I took Yumi there. She knows Japanese culture better than me and likes cultural exchanges like me. Before I did it alone, I was worried about many things. Today Yumi helped me and we enjoyed talking about Japanese and Chinese cultures. We mainly talked about Seijin shiki and New year in Japanese. Yumi and I also learned some Chinese words from them. After the Japanese Lounge, we had lunch together. We had really good time there. We always learn English from foreigners, but do not have many chances to teach Japanese to foreigner. This Japanese Lounge is a good experience to us. (^ ^) I wanna take Yumi there again!!

Delivery Ramen

Last month my sister and I ordered two ramen deliveries from Shoyo-ken. However, that shop doesn't deliver ramen into my house, so we had to go to my grandmother's house. When we had watched a movie from You Tube, we suddenly wanted to eat Ramen. That's why we ordered them. That taste was Tonkotsu (pork). We like Tonkotsu ramen very much. After we finished eating, my grandmother came and began to cook ramen. Anyway, we all enjoyed eating ramen!!

Mrs. Doubtfire

Mrs. Doubtfire is a 1993 comedy movie directed by Chris Columbus. This movie won an Academy Award as best make up in 1993. Robin Williams played Daniel Hilland and Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire. Sally Field played his wife Miranda Hillard. Pierce Brosnan played Stuart Dunmeyer.
<Story>
Daniel was a father who loved his children. One day, he lost his job and held a son’s birthday part at home. His wife Miranda got shocked at his actions and asked him to separate. That’s why they got divorced and Miranda got parental authority. Daniel did not want to go away from his children, but he got little chance to see them. It was only one day a week that he could see his children.
He tried to think the way to meet them. His idea was to become a housekeeper. He called his wife many time disguising his voice. He went to his gay brother Frank to become an old woman. He succeeded to work at his old house as Euphegenia Doubtfire from England. Firstly, his family did not notice who Mrs. Doubtfire was. His children, especially his older daughter Lydia and son Chris did not like Mrs. Doutfire. Milland got liked Mrs.Doubtfire, but she was surprised that Mrs. Doubtfire knew about her house things well. When he as Mrs. Doubtfire was in the house, he met Stuart Dunmeyer who had been Miranda’s boyfriend. Miranda and Stuart happened to meet again at their works. Stuart was rich and handsome, so Daniel did not feel good when he saw Stuart. He wanted him to leave from Miranda. Daniel cared of his children well as Mrs. Doubtfire.
However, one day, when he went to bathroom, he was come out who he was guy by Chris. Chris and Lydia got angry with him, but when they realized that he was their father, they became happy. Daniel asked them to keep his secret. Stuart and Miranda got familiar day by day, so Daniel fretted. Stuart invited Miranda, her children and Mrs. Doubtfire a restaurant to celebrate Miranda’s birthday. Accidentally, Daniel had appointment with his new business boss at the same time and same restaurant. He could not cancel either of them. He decided to ply between Stuart and his family and his boss.
He was Mrs. Doubtfire in front of Stuart, but he was Daniel in front of his boss. That’s why he had to change his clothes in the bathroom over and over again. Stuart was allergic to cayenne pepper, so he ordered his dish without it. Daniel hated him so much because he approached Miranda. Daniel invaded the restaurant kitchen and added cayenne pepper to Stuart’s dish. When he ate something like shrimp, he choked. Daniel felt guilty and began to perform abdominal thrust, so Stuart managed to survive the accident. However, when Daniel helped Stuart as Mrs. Doubtfire, his secret was revealed. Miranda got known that Mrs. Doubtfire was Daniel. Later, Daniel as Mrs. Doubtfire became a star in a new children’s TV show. Miranda and the children missed Daniel again when they saw his program. Finally, Miranda allowed Daniel to spend much time the children.
<Impresstion>
Mrs. Doubtfire is my most favorite American film. I think that Mrs. Doubtfire is masterpiece. I have seen this movie so many times since I was young. When I typed this movie review, I did not have to watch that movie again. It was easy to summarize this story. I like this movie very much, so my review is long. The reason why I like this movie is that the lifestyle is just my ideal American lifestyle. They lived a big house and enjoyed party greatly. Speaking of this story, if I were his wife, I want to divorce him. I want to remarry Stuart. He was a good father for children, but he got lost his job and deceived people. However, if I were his child, I want to live with him. He is very kind and funny. My favorite scene is Stuart ate something like shrimp at the restaurant. The dish he ordered looks tasty. Mrs. Doubtfire is an inconceivable story, but it will last as my most favorite movie of all.

Year-end gift

My family got a year-end gift from my acquaintance. It was a box full of snacks. (^-^) He gave us same one every year. We don't have to buy snacks during every this time. We now eat them little by little every day!!

Joyfull with Yumi

Today I went to school to finish my homeworks. There I met Yumi. It was over noon when we met. We were hungry then. We decided to have lunch together. We were puzzled where we had lunch. We tried to go to cafeteria and Lowson in the university, but we stopped going there. Finally, we decided to go to Joyfull. It is not so far from our university. We ordered Saturday's lunch. Though that menu was good, we were shocked because that menu misses miso soup. > < It was short time, but we enjoyed having lunch. In fact, I went there with my foreign friends before. Anyway, I wanna go there with them again!!

Book Review 2-10

I read the book"Picture Puzzle". I tell about this story.
It was a fine summer morning. Pete was a college student. He wanted to something exciting to happen. He went to a large shopping mall to get the Stephen King book. Then something exciting did happen. A girl ran through the crowd of people in the mall. Suddenly, she ran up to Pete and pushed something into his hand. Pete tried to talk with her, but she disappeared into the crowd. Pete looked at the thing in his hand. It was a film cassette. A minute later, Pete saw a man pushing through the crowd. He was a fat man and wearing a red shirt. He was in hurry and finding something. Pete thought that he was looking for the girl and she was afraid of him. Pete decided to solve the puzzle by himself. First, he developed the pictures on that film. There were only six pictures in it. Five of the photos were pictures of the girl with her friends and a young child. The sixth photo was a picture of two men. One of them was tall and thin. The other man was the guy he watched at the mall. In the picture, the two men were standing in a churchyard. A small part of the church was in the picture, too. When he saw the tall man, he remembered seeing him in the City News, which was the city's evening newspaper. Pete looked at the clock in the shopping mall and then had to go to college. However, he thought the girl was more important than college. He went to the City News office to find the newspaper about that tall guy. At last, he got to know him in a newspaper. He was Ronald Thurber and a lawyer of Donald Zetter, who had killed James Black. Pete thought that the big guy was a member of Zetter's gang. Next, he tried to find that churchyard. Two hours later, he found the same church as that picture's. Pete walked up to the church and he opened the heavy door. There was a priest inside. Pete asked him about the two and the girl, but he did not know either of them. It was lunchtime and Pete was hungry. There were some shops in the street near the church. One of them sold sandwiches and drinks, so he went into it. He ordered a chicken sandwich and a coke. He also asked a clerk about them. The moment he asked, a woman at the back of the shop came and talked about her. Pete got to know about her well. She was Amy Bates who lived in a flat near the shop. And then he went to her flat, Richfield House. There were six bell-pushes by the big red door. There was a name next to each bell-push. One of the names was Amy Bates. Pete put on the bell-push and rang the bell. Pete waited and looked up. He saw a man who leaning from one of the windows. It was the big man. Pete greeted and asked him about Amy. Then he asked Pete to come into his room. He told Pete that Amy would come soon. That's why Pete came there and sat down. Suddenly, the guy asked Pete about the film and there was a gun in his hand. Pete gave him the photos. When Pete gave him the film cassette from his pocket slowly, the guy held out his hand. Suddenly, Pete turned round and threw the cassette out of the window. There were some people in the street below the window. A woman saw the film cassette and pick it up. When the guy looked down into the street, Pete jumped towards him. The two men fought and the guy fired the gun. The people in the street heard the sound of the gun. Pete pushed him. He fell on the floor. He tried to kill Pete, but Pete moved quickly and then he fell out of the window. Pete ran to the bathroom door and helped Amy. Amy told the policemen about the story of the guys. According to her, they wanted to help Zetter from prison. The policemen found ￡50,000 inside the envelope. After they left the house, Pete and Amy walked away together.
Though the book is level 2, it is so easy to read. I coould read it soon, but I was lazy to type review. I took a long time to review this story. Anyway, I was happy to finish. I will find books like this again.

Late birthday cake

Today I wondered why my father bought a cake. It looks a big cake in the photo, but in fact it was a small cake. My father seldom buys cakes. It was amazing that he bought it to my sister. She was more lucky than me because she got two birthday cakes. Speaking of cake, my favorite cake is Gateu chcolat. The next time my birthday comes, I wanna eat it!!

Durian Candy

Today I attended English lounge and then I got a candy. Its flavor was Durian. One girl who did not know what it was tried to eat one in front of us. The moment she ate one, her face turned yucky and spat it out quickly. According to her, it smelled in her mouth. I was afraid that I ate it in front of everyone then. I brought it home and shared it with my sister. I tried to eat it, but it was not so bad to me. I could eat it all. My sister also could do that. We felt that the smell was similar to gas. I wanna eat it again and recommend many people to eat one!

Japanese Lounge

Today I became a private Japanese teacher at the library in the second period. My students were two Chinese women. I met them through my Japanese lesson. Though I pretended to be a Japanese teacher to them, we just enjoyed chatting in Japanese. Of course, I did not receive money. I like teaching Japanese to foreigners, so it is fine to me. It was so hard to teach Japanese. I often got confused teaching Japanese. Though I was a Japanese teacher to them, I learned some Chinese words from them and asked them to teach me more. We had really good time together. I wanna teach them Japanese next week again!

Book Review 2-9

I read the book "MR BEAN IN TOWN". I will tell about Mr. Bean before I summarize this story. Mr. Bean is a character of British comedy program starring Rowan Atkinson. Rowan also wrote the stories himself. I review the story about Steak Tartare.
It was Mr. Bean's birthday. Mr. Bean put on a clean shirt and his best coat, trousers and shoes. Then he drove to a restaurant in the center of town. He arrived at eight o'clock and went inside. It was very nice restaurant. Everybody was wearing their best clothes, and there were flowers on every table. The manager met him at the door and took him to a table. The manager pulled the chair away from the table. Then he waited for Mr. Bean to sit down. However, Mr. Bean did not sit down and looked at him. When the manager went away, Mr. Bean sat quietly. He took a birthday card and an envelope out of his jacket. Then he wrote something and put it on the table. After a minute or two, Mr. Bean pretended to see the card for the first time. The manager arrived with the menu and gave it to Mr. Bean. He realized that everything was very expensive. He put the money on to a plate and began to count up it. Finally, he ordered Steak tartare. After that, a waiter arrived at Mr. Bean's table with a bottle of wine. The waiter put some wine in Mr. Bean's glass and he had a drink. He smiled and waiter tried to put more wine into the glass. He didn't know about wine manners and he quickly put his hand across the glass. The waiter looked at him strangely. Then Mr. Bean took the knife and started to play with it. The woman at the next table looked at him angrily. He also played with his napkin. A minute later, the waiter arrived with his food. There was a large cover on the plate. Mr. Bean couldn't see the food, but he gave the waiter the money on the table. Customers don't usually give a waiter money when he arrives with the food. The waiter didn't say anything and took the money. Mr. Bean was happy because he thought that he was doing everything right. When he saw his dish, his smile disappeared. He thought they didn't cook that meat and could not eat it. He wanted to change his dish, but he couldn't ask the manager. He was afraid that people thought he was stupid. Then he thought he would never ask for steak tartare. The waiter asked him whether he was all right or not. He smiled and pretend eat some meat. He tried to hide the meat in any ways. He had an idea. First, He put the meat into the mustard pot and put the cover on it. Next, he took the flower out of the vase. He then put some meat into the vase and pushed the flowers in on top of it. He also pushed some of meat inside the roll. Then, he put more meat under the small plate and into the sugar pot and so on. Finally, he put some meat into a violinist's trousers. He thought everything went well. When the waiter walked past with some plates of food, he fell over Mr. Bean's foot. The plates fell on to Mr. Bean's table and on to the floor. The moment the people looked up the waiter, he got an idea. He pretended to be very angry and blamed the waiter that his meat was spread around his table by him. The manager came and apologized him. He invited Mr. Bean to another table. The violinist began to play "Happy Birthday" to him. Mr. Bean smiled. The waiter put a plate in front of Mr. Bean. The manager smiled and took off the cover. Mr. looked down and stopped smiling. There was Steak tartare in front of him!
Recently, I got to like Mr. Bean. He is a good comedian like Charles Chaplin. I can enjoy with his joke, but I think reading his joke like this is not interesting at all. Then I found his movie about Steak Tartare from You tube. You should watch it than read my review.

Happy Birthday to my sister

Today was my sister's birthday. She became 23. We didn't have a party because we celebrated her before and did not have much time to do that. My sister has an important test soon, so she went out somewhere to study. My parents also went out during daytime. I spent all day at home.

Tonight my father bought my favorite udon (Japanese noodle) for me. It is Tsuruya-udon. Tsuruya-udon comes from the shop name "Tsuruya". I like it very much since I was a junior high school student. There were two Truruya shops in Kumamoto, but one of them was closed. It was near my house, so I would often visit there with my family. I love Truya-udon. There are tempura shrimp, meat and wakame (soft seaweed) in Truya-udon. Though it contains them all, it is 400 yen. I think it is cheap. The shopkeer sometimes misses putting wakame to Tsuruya-udon for takeout. As you can see, the Tsuruya-udon was missing wakame. I was a little shocked.(> <)

My father likes Curry-udon very much. Perhapses, my father visited the closed shop more than me. We do not go to another Tsuruya shop because it is too far. Today my father happened to get a chance to visit there. According to my father, he met the old shopkeer there and then he gave him the Curry-udon for free. My father and I really like Tsuruya's udon, so tonight we felt happy. I want to eat Tsuruya-udon again!!



Anyway, today was my sister's birthday! Happy birthday to my sister Yoko! I will do something for her someday!!

My sister's birthday Eve

Tomorrow is my sister's birthday. She will be 23 soon. That's why today was not special day especially. Now she is busy studying for her work. We family have already celebrated her and eaten birthday cake before her real birthday. (> <) I don't know that we have her birthday party tomorrow again. Anyway, I want to have gorgeous dinner!!

Take Back Bag!

After our dinner, we went to Hikarinomori Youme town with my sister's driving. We tried to enjoy shopping. My grandmother and I were looking at new bags. Suddenly, she recommended me one bag. The moment I saw it, it looked good and I got to like it. That's why she bought it for me. As soon as I got it, I began to use it. Firstly, I walked around many shops with it. I lost an interest in that bag while I saw another bags. I was thinking whether I should keep it or not for a minute. Finally, I decided to take back the bag and I did so. I will find a new bag better than it!!

Today I went to Imari-en with my family for dinner. We ate yakiniku there. My sister really likes yakiniku. When we eat out, we often go to yakiniku shops. Recently, we begin to order Bibimbap. I can't eat spicy Bibimbap, but that Bibimbap was not spicy at all. We also ordered Salad bar. Those foods were good, but I was not hungry so much. Next time we eat out, I want to make me hungry. However, I try not to eat too much. I should care of my health!!

Docomodake

It is Docomodake!!
Do you know it? I put it with my cell phone. Dokomodake is the main character of Docomo. I don't know whether it is a boy or girl. I believe it is a boy, so I will treat it as a boy. I did not have an interest in it at all before. I got to like it since I bought my new phone. Though it seems to be too big to put on my cell phone, it is fine to me. (^ ^)

Romeo and Juliet

William Shakespeare’s Romeo ＋ Juliet is romance and tragedy movie. It was directed by Baz Luhrman in 1996. Leonard DiCaprio played Romeo and Claire Danes played Juliet. This Romeo and Juliet is a modernization of the original one. The original Romeo and Juliet is written by William Shakespeare. This movie won some awards. For example, at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1997, Leonardo DiCaprio won the Silver Best Award for Best Actor and director Baz Luhrman won the Alfred Bauer Award. Thank for this movie, many actors were nominated for movie awards. I tell about this story.
Romeo’s family Montagues and Juliet’s family Capulets were mutual enemies.
One day, Juliet’s father gave a party at his house. The Montagues were not invited, but Romeo stole into the party. There they met and fell in love each other. However, their families hated each other, so they shouldn’t make love. After that party, they decided to marry.
The very next day, they could marry. They became real couple, but the problem happened. Romeo’s friend was killed by Juliet’s cousin Tybalt, so Romeo killed Tybalt. That is why Romeo had to leave Juliet. Before his leaving, Romeo spent all night with Juliet. They slept together and he went far away. Juliet father did not know his daughter’s marriage, so he had Juliet marry to Paris who was a rich man. She did not want to marry him, so she went to Friar Laurence who was Romeo’s friend and helped their marriage.
He told her that she should drink a special poison before her marriage. Because of that poison, she became in suspended animation. Many people thought she died and held her funeral. Romeo heard about her death before he knew their plan. He bought a poison, which could kill him and went to see Juliet. He kissed her a lot. When she woke up, he drank that poison. He died in front of her slowly. There was a gun near her. She also killed herself with gun. The families were sad and decided not to fight again.
I have seen this movie for a few times, so I know about the story a little. I think it is nice story, but it is too fantastic. Romeo and Juliet are too early to fall in love. I sometimes think that they can make love easily, but separate easily, too. Considering the stage of this movie is modern, their words are strange. Sometimes I can’t understand their words. Those words fit drama, but doesn’t movie. Speaking of DiCaprio, I am not a big fan of him, but I have seen his several movies. I think that he looks cool in this movie and Taitanic. Anyway, I only know this modern version Romeo and Juliet, so I want to have a chance to see the original version Romeo and Juliet.

Book Review 2-8

I read the book" Kidnap!". I summarize the story.
It was winter. Tom lived in America as a cartoonist. One day, he went out
with his car to find topics for his work. Firstly, he went to a coffee shop in a bookstore. Then he noticed that some white paper fell from a man's hand. He picked it up. He tried to give it to the man, but he could not. Tom found a map in the paper and he put it into his coat. When he got a cup of coffee, there was a woman with red hair near him. He tried to draw her with the paper. After that, he saw the woman standing in front of her car. She said to him that her car had been broken. She asked him to lend his cell phone and then they saw the paper. Tom told her about the men in the bookstore. He thought that a kidnap plan was written in the paper. There was the mark of high school in the paper. The woman's name was Rita. Tom wanted to know the high school to tell the police, so Rita tried to help him find the place. That's why they began to find the high school with his car before someone was kidnapped. At the same time, in Boston a famous movie star and her daughter left their house to go the high school. The movie star's name was Jodie-Anne and her daughter name was Anastasia. When they dropped at a gas station, Tom realized that the men wanted to kidnap Anastasia from a magazine. He told about that to Rita and then her face turned scary. She had a gun in her hand and dug it into him. She was a member of the kidnap group. Rita said that she and the men would kidnap Anastasia and ask her mother for three million dollars. Rita also asked tom to drive. After driving for ten minutes, Tom stopped behind a blue van. There Rita met the men. Just then, a big black car was coming to them. Tom was entered into the van by them. There were Jodie-Anne and Anastasia in the car. Suddenly, everything happened. Rita and the men kidnapped Anastasia. One of the men was Joe and the other was Max. Joe was shot by her bodyguard. However, Rita and Max took her away with the van. Her bodyguard couldn't stop the van. They drove at high speed, but the van skied on the ice and snow. Tom and Anastasia got a chance to get away from them. When they ran away, Max could not get out of the van. Rita found them. Tom jumped on Rita and knocked the gun from her hand. They ran very fast and Rita also followed them. Tom and Anastasia managed to cross an old bridge, but Rita fell into the river. She couldn't swim. Though she was killer, Tom tried to help her. When he tried to do that, many police officers came. Tom was suspected of being a kidnapper by police officers, but Anastasia told them the truth. Finally, they could go home. Tom was happy that he could get great ideas for his comic strip.
This book is level 1 and it is almost comic. However, it was too long for me and made me tired. This story is too unbelievable to enjoy. Though I said so, I will try to read comic books like this!!

Saturday night

On the night of the 6th days, our dinner was Hamburgers. We went to FUDDRUCKERS. I met my host father's brother's family. They are three boys in his family. They are all cute and handsome. They lived in Spain, but they went back to Minnesota then. I greeted them in Spanish.^^ I like Fuddruckers after Burger King. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. It was a very American style shop for me. The Burgers are big and the meat is good quality. There I noticed many plump people.



I ate this whole hamburger set all by myself and I remembered that I drank seven glasses of soft drink. It was so yummy!! My host family was surprised about my appetite. Afterwards I also ate a cookie. I regretted eating and drinking too much. (> <) Anyway, I would often eat hamburgers lots during stay in America. Perhaps, I ate hamburgers at least 8 times. I love American hamburgers. I wanna visit there again!! I really had good time there. I wanna take my family and friends there.

After our dinner, I met my host sister Christina at the airport. She had stayed in Mexico for her church trip during my first week in Minnesota. I also met Sarah's boyfriend Chris there. Christina likes ice cream very much, so we went to the ice cream shop Culver's.
This chocolate ice cream was too sweet and made me ill. Finally, I ate it all. My stomach became worse then. > < I really got calories too much that day. However, it was my best memorable night. I wanna come back to that day!!
