Book Review 2-16

I have read the book “ Rich Man, Poor Man”. I will review this story.
There was an old guy, Adam in a little village. One day a postman came to his village. The postman brought him a letter from his son, Saul. He gave him the letter and walked away. He called to his wife, Martha. She came out and looked at the letter. She was excited but she was also worried. However, there had been no school fifty years ago, so they could not read or write. They had to find the schoolteacher. His only son, Saul left the village and two years ago and their three daughters were married. Saul was making a lot of money in a foreign country. Martha and the schoolteacher came and many people did, too. The teacher began to open the envelope and read the letter. There was a money order in his letter. It was worth one hundred pounds. The teacher asked Adam to go to the Post Office in Darpur to get money. Everyone laughed and said that he would be a rich man. Adam also said that he could buy some food and drink, and give a party for them all. That evening, the village people talked about the money order and his money. Adam and Martha also talked about the money. We needed many things for the farm. The next morning he got up very early. It was dark and everyone was asleep. He put on his best clothes and he carried his best stick. He put the money order carefully in his pocket and he said goodbye to Martha. He walked ten miles to the main road and waited for the bus. The bus came and then he got on. It was a long way to Darpur. He bought things for his farm from the shop, Rick. There were a lot of people in the Post Office. There was a long line of people and he waited the back. Finally, it was his turn. However, the official did not server him. He had to wait and finally the official looked at him. The official asked him about his Identity Card. However, Adam did not know what Identity Card is. The official said to him that he could not give him any money without his Identity Card. He also explained about Identity Card. Adam asked him where he could buy his Identity Card. However, the official was angry and didn’t answer him. A man told Adam to go to the Ministry of the Interior. He walked to the Ministry of the Interior. He waited in another queue. He spoke to another official and asked for an Identity Card. The official told him to bring the form and three photographs of yourself and two pounds, and come back next day. He insisted that he could not come there again because he lived far from there and, he was too old. However, the official turned away. He walked to the shop of Rick, and then they began to talk. Rick showed him the way to a photographer. Adam managed to find the house. The photographer was asleep, but he came to me quickly. Adam wanted to go to Minta that afternoon, so he was in a hurry. However, that guy did not hurry and asked him to come back tomorrow morning because photographs would take twenty-four hours. Anyway, Adam gave him the money and he took the photographs. After that, Adam went back to the bus station and sat on the bus for three hours. He also had to walk tem miles back to his village. It was nighttime and he was very tired. Martha and his friends were waiting for him. He explained his wife about an Identity Card. He was so tired and managed to go to bed at last. He worked up late the next morning. The sun was already high. He was too tired to go out. That’s why he stayed at home on Wednesday. He rested and talked to the villagers about the money order. He told them about the Identity Card and the photographer. The schoolteacher filled in his application form for an Identity Card. On Thursday he traveled to Darpur again. He walked to the main road and he caught a bus. In Darpur, he walked to the house of the photographer. He knocked on the door of the house. No one came to the door. He knocked again loudly with his stick. A woman opened the door at that time. He asked her about the photographer. He got to know that the photographer was out then. A woman closed the door, but he kept waiting there for him. After a long time, the photographer came back and he smelt of beer. Adam asked him to give his photographs. However, he did not remember about it at all. He told Adam to show him the receipt for his picture. Adam shouted that the photographer did not give him a receipt. He was getting angry, so he hit the photographer hard with his stick. The photographer shouted that he was nearly killing by Adam. Lots of people ran out of their house. He hit the photographer again and two men held him. The photographer was very angry and he was very angry. Lots of people were shouting. Then a policeman came. The photographer shouted to the policeman that Adam was a thief and murderer. The policeman held and told Adam to come with him to the police station. Adam did not say anything. At the police station, the policeman asked him many questions. Finally, the policeman told Adam to go back t his village and not to come there again. He pushed Adam into the street. He went back to his village. He was tried and angry. Next day he told his story to all the villagers. The villagers were angry. Martha was also unhappy. Then in the evening the schoolteacher came to his house to help them again. The teacher gave him a letter to Mr. Sheth. The teacher said Mr. Sheth was an important man in Darpur and he was a friend of his wife’s cousin. And the letter was about Adam’s money order. He took the letter and thanked the schoolteacher. That’s why he traveled to Darpur again on Saturday, for the third time. After a long time, he found Mr. Sheth’s house. The door was opened by a tall man. He explained the tall man about the letter. He also gave him the letter. Mr. Sheth was so busy, so he was not there at the moment. Adam tried to wait for him, a large black car came and a man went into the house. A long time later, the tall man opened the door again and called Adam. He followed the tall man and went into a large room with fine carpets and big chairs. Another man was in the room and he was drinking. He was very Mr. Sheth. He said he wanted to help Adam. Adam took the money order out of his pocket. It was dirty and looked very old. He gave it to Mr. Sheth. Mr. Sheth unfolded the money order and looked at it. He said that money order was not worth one hundred pounds and was worth nothing. Adam was shocked to hear that. Mr. Sheth said Saul did not understand about money orders. It was not for that country and out of date. Mr. Sheth gave him the money order back. Adam was not hungry, but Mr. Sheth went out of the room, and then he brought him some coffee and some cakes. Mr. Sheth wanted to help Adam, so he got an idea. Mr. Sheth asked him to give his money order. Mr. Steth gave his money order to Adam. His money order was worthless. Mr. Steth was going to change his money order for Adam. And then Mr. Steth went out of the room. He would give him some money. Adam felt happy again. After a few minutes, the tall man came into the room. He gave Adam an envelope. He said to Adam that it was from Mr. Sheth and then Adam could go. He went out of the house. He walked alone the road to the bus station. He opened the envelope and he took out his money. He counted the money. It was ten pounds. He thought about his only son, Saul. His son, Saul had sent him a money order for one hundred pounds. Mr. Steth had given him ten pounds. He felt old and he felt poor again.
I think Adam was so poor man. I also hate the photographer. Though his money order his son sent was wrong, he got some money. That’s why I think he was lucky a little. This story is not so long, but it was bored to me. Anyway, it will probably be my last book review. I have reviewed some books, but it is the longest review of all. I found some funny books or bored stories through this chance. To reading books is important for me, so I will keep reading books in English. I was happy to do my best to review books in English!
